Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love's sake. This post calls to mind how I, years ago, was planning on going on a retreat but was so busy. I remember commenting to a friend at the time that it was because I was so busy and had no time for retreat that I needed to take the time for retreat. Now I remember the retreat, not the other things I was "supposed" to do that weekend.Denisehttp://picturinggod.ignatianspirituality.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7565601.post-49198654426234165292011-03-31T22:59:02.611-04:002011-03-31T22:59:02.611-04:00Oh, and the above was me. Such beautiful silence. Such terrible silence.

For years I would get too nervous to sleep here. And often at 10 or 11 I'd high-tail it to a local motel or my parents' house.

But the LOH helps in such an amazingly practical and down to earth way. Night Prayer simple re-aligns my life, my soul, and my brain.

Protect us Lord as we stay awake watch over us when we sleep; that awake we may keep watch with Christ and asleep rest in His peace.

I say that til I do fall asleep, resting in his peace.

And then it informs my day. A night full of trusting and resting has made my days easier to fill with gratitude and praise.

(I'm also taking the "...and protect us from all anxiety...." at Daily Mass totally personally)

This is odd to admit, but I know prayer works for others .... I participate in it and see it. I am humbled and grateful to see that it works for me too.Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05147416487171740144noreply@blogger.com
