I threw a half-dozen of my columns into the text analyzer I Write Like to see what might happen. This, this is what happened! Dan Brown???
I'm not alone in wondering what the criteria are for similarity — Margaret Atwood put in her own work, to find out she writes like Stephen King.
My novel - Chuck Palahniuk (who I had to Google); my novella - H. P. Lovecraft; my short stories, variously, Stephen King, Douglas Adams, William Gibson, Stephanie Meyer and Dan Brown; my blog posts - Cory Doctorow, and my poetry and flash fiction - James Joyce.
ReplyDeletePretty hysterical.
I think they match vocab. I can see how yours would be Dan Brown in that basis. I did this a couple of weeks ago and My Desert Year blog was Stephen King. I've already forgotten who the others were, but the vocab parallels were the only thing that made sense.
ReplyDeleteI entered an editorial and I was matched with Jonathan Swift. The next day, I put in the same editorial and got William Shakespeare. Hmm...
ReplyDeletesounds like they have loaded the system with at least 4 or 5 authors
ReplyDeleteEeek! I appear to be another Dan Brown. Oh, dear.
