Models of Church

The City and The World has a post about Cardinal Avery Dulles, who wrote "Models of Church". I tried this quiz to find out where I fell on the continuum. And where else should a sacramental theologian fall??

What is your model of the church? [Dulles]

You scored as Sacrament model

Your model of the church is Sacrament. The church is the effective sign of the revelation that is the person of Jesus Christ. Christians are transformed by Christ and then become a beacon of Christ wherever they go. This model has a remarkable capacity for integrating other models of the church.

  1. I went for sacramental, too, just marginally more than herald. Another 19th Annotation transformation -- just last night I was writing about having told my director at the beginning of that retreat experience that I was not in the least a sacramentally oriented person and how, six months later, that had changed rather dramatically.

I scored barely there for church as an institution, though.

  2. I never tend to pick extremes when taking these things so with a whopping 67%.... I fall into the mystical communion crowd? I like the name whether or not it's true.

  3. ...artists and mystics go together? I was squarely sacramental, 95%, with a good dose of mystical communion (89%)...

Now I'll have to read the book again!
