Do You Hear What I Hear?

If you are me and I is Barnacle Boy - the short answer to this question is "no." Last night as we sat reading in the sun room, he reached into his pocket, took out his phone and started talking. I started to wonder aloud how he'd known that Bead Girl was calling at just that moment when it struck me, he had set his ringtone to the one that only kids can hear.

It's very odd, to realize that there are entire set of sounds that are "hidden" from me, and of course, it's a great delight to the teens around here. My only revenge? I can see colors that the Boy cannot!

Your ears aren't what they once were and you have resorted to doing online hearing tests.

The highest pitched ultrasonic mosquito ringtone that I can hear is 12kHz
Find out which ultrasonic ringtones you can hear!

  1. And here I thought he had the phone set on "vibrate" (or what one priest I know refers to as "stun" LOL)

My kids don't do the ultrasonic ringtone. They said the sound is annoying.

  4. Barb, I had the tone going while I wrote this post and the Boy found it pretty irritating, so go figure why he has it as his ring tone!

Sabrina, I know what you mean.

Flacie - it's not what I can see that's all that unusual, but what he can't - red and green, he's colorblind!

  5. I'll have to check out the ringtone later--I'm dashing out to get Ladybug evaluated, at her Montessori teacher's recommendation, for skipping to second grade when she starts public school in the fall.

Quick prayer request and newsflash--I just found out about this year's Patristic, Medieval and Renaissance Conference at Villanova. I haven't presented there since I was in grad school and am hustling to get a proposal done on prayer and work (conference theme) in medieval women's monsatic theology. It's due Friday so prayers would be appreciated....If it flies we could finally have that cup of tea in person!

PS Perhaps a good omen--word verification is nunla!
